Background
Following the discontinuation of the TheraPEP device, we recognised the growing demand for an alternative airway clearance solution for our customers. The Ultra-PEP is effective for chronic respiratory patients who require reliable, easy-to-use devices for simple airway clearance and for post- operative patients experiencing pulmonary complications. Our goal was to offer an alternative device that healthcare providers could use for patients with confidence.
Opportunity
After identifying the new gap in the market, we introduced the Ultra-PEP device, a lightweight, portable, and easy to use airway- clearance device. The product can function in any orientation and offers graduated and precise adjustment of pressure. Visual feedback is achieved via the attached manometer. The versatile PEP-device features a detachable mouthpiece meaning it can be connected to a tracheostomy tube or a facemask if required.
Outcome
The Ultra PEP device from Eakin Healthcare has provided an opportunity to fill the gap in the Austrian market with an estimated minimum opportunity of approx. 3500 devices per annum.
Additional Features & Benefits
The Ultra PEP device can be used in combination with Humidified High Flow via the AquaNase nasal Cannula, providing improved oxygenation and mucociliary clearance. This combination reduces the length of hospital stay and mortality which are linked to post- operative pulmonary complications.
